Numerous surgeons convey the importance and key benefits of Smith+Nephew’s CORI™ Digital Tensioner, a unique digital tensioning device unlike any other device on the market that is designed to truly revolutionize and standardize how surgeons assess ligament laxity in robotic-assisted surgery.
We've never seen this before that you look on a screen, you see the tension or go into a knee and you get the load or the force being applied. And I see a gap measurement. I'm like, that's what I wanted. I've been doing this stuff which I knew, I knew when you try to teach people, I, you always get the question like, well, how much force are you applying? I'm like, I don't know this much, right? And, and, and here I saw the amount of tension I was buying, I saw a number, the force and it's reproducible. And I saw that and I saw the gap it created and that really is what what I wanted for the last too many years. Yeah. II, I think one of the real advancements of using the tension is that it allows us to be honest and objective with ourselves instead of requiring a surgeon to have at least 100 robotic cases or 1000 robotic cases or 10,000 knee replacements under the belt to really obtain a mastery skill. This allows a surgeon that's new to the platform to be able to have objective measurements and feedback for that knee inflection extension on the lateral sides and have a very easy to use interface on how to optimize the position of the components to end up with a knee that's very well balanced through the entire range of motion. But to have something predictive that we could theoretically identify what it might look like before committing to the surgery is in itself, by definition, a powerful tool that we have never had before. The cod platform uh has really been revolutionary in both robotics as well as Arthur Class D in general. Uh It is allowing us to perform surgery uh predictably and reliably time and time again, we're able to plan out the surgery exactly the way we want it with our gaps and our tensions. Uh beforehand, we can execute that plan and we're certain that we're going to end up with the result that we planned for at the end of the day, the idea of personalization and uh really um uh executing and delivering a product to the patient in a total knee arthroplasty that is suited for them and only them. Uh these technologies such as the core tension are, allows me to do that and actually understand one and objectify the actual ligaments tension throughout the arc of motion, which we have never been able to do to this point again, prior to any cuts being made and then reproducible uh executing that uh for them prior to using the core robotics, I always felt I was a very good surgeon and had excellent gaps in balance for my knees. However, I've become an even better surgeon now that I have all the ligament tension data and using the core robotic system, I feel like I have a home run knee that is perfectly balanced and solid every time.
