Bertrand Kaper, MD
Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Bertrand Kaper has been in private practice in Arizona since 1999. His practice focuses on joint replacement surgery of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He has extensive surgical experience having performed more than 10,000 surgeries. He serves as Chief of the Orthopaedic Surgery section at HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center, in Scottsdale. His clinics serve both the Scottsdale/Phoenix metropolitan area and Yavapai County at two conveniently located offices.
Dr. Kaper earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences with Honors, from the University of Chicago, and his medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, in Chicago. He began his surgical training with an Internship and Residency in General Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Dr. Kaper then went on to complete his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency, also at Dartmouth. Dr. Kaper completed his training, working with several internationally renowned hip and knee surgeons during his Joint Replacement Fellowshipat the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, Canada.
Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Kaper is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as a regular presenter at scientific and medical conferences. He travels nationally and internationally, training fellow orthopaedic surgeons in the techniques of direct anterior THA as well as robotic-assisted NAVIO total and partial knee replacement surgery. He is committed to providing the latest, state-of-the-art procedures, including outpatient joint replacement surgery,for his patients.
Dr. Kaper is the founder and chairman of Operation Walk International, a 501(c)3 charitable organization (www.opwalkinternational.org). Every year since 2007, Dr. Kaper has volunteered his time for Operation Walk’s medical missions. With collaboration from orthopaedic manufacturer Smith & Nephew, his team has worked in Guatemala, Ecuador, and Colombia, performing hundreds of free hip and knee replacement surgeries for the native population.
